Gallery 1: Mark
Mulroney I Wanna Set Up A Little Tent And Live On Your
Shoulder
In his first solo exhibit in New York, Mark Mulroney
continues to reflect his acute awareness of what is often missing
both physically and emotionally from modern lives, landscapes and spaces. Mark’s
current subject matter encompasses domestic detritus intermingled with sparse
trees, empty cave-like structures and odd Rube Goldbergian structures that hang
unattended. The exhibition will consist of a wall mural, works on canvas, paper
and wall mounted sculpture.
Gallery 2: Mary
Temple Postcard Skies
In Mixed Greens’ second show with
Mary Temple, she will
exhibit her photo collages for the first time. In Postcard Skies, Mary
has printed the small-scale photographs, hand-cut the facades and removed their
windows. Juxtaposed behind the buildings and fragments of buildings, Mary has
put the great blue sky of Arizona, her home state. The absent windows and the
Arizona sky begin to communicate ideas of longing, dreaming and travel. They
become vessels for hopes and aspirations.
When Mary moved to New York
City, she would tell people she was from the Southwest and they would
undoubtedly respond, “I’ve always wanted to live there.” Through these
photographs, Mary shares the familiar and the exotic, the home and the home away
from home.
