The
fund places contemporary artwork in public spaces throughout
New York City. Recent projects include Rachel Whiteread?s
Water Tower, a translucent cast of the inside of an
actual 12’ 2” water tower that was displayed on a SoHo
rooftop, and Pipilotti Rist’s Open My Glade, a series
of one-minute videos that ran hourly on a screen overlooking
Times Square. The “In the Public Realm” competition is an
opportunity for emerging artists to create work for public
spaces. The application deadline for 2002 is February 15.
