I am very interested in the far reaching power of nature. We build houses and think that we have controlled space, yet nature winds its way into those materials. The sculptures I have built light up to emphasize the power of natural form. My photographs focus in on the tiny, overlooked spaces that are only symbols of the larger landscape. What I present may seem true, or self evident, but it is not.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Q: Have you ever used anything in your kitchen to make art?
A: McDonald’s food and packaging in a series of constructed photographs about “McMansions”---oversized suburban residences.

Q: Do you enjoy collaborating?
A: Sure, I need help to fabricate the large pieces (and often the small). The talent of the artists who help me is incredible.

Q: Do you work on one or more pieces at a time?
A: Yes, sometimes in series or on multiples for smaller works. Usually I am confined by the scale of big works to working on one at a time (ie. the VW Bus at 1:1 scale or the Jeep at 1:1 scale).

Q: If you could choose anyone to commission a piece, who would it be and why?
A: Volkswagen. They should commission a Bus. That would be a great piece.
