Christina Mazzalupo

Plastic covered couches, glass angels, ornate gold frames, dimly lit dollhouses, dusty silk roses, needlepoint crosses, chandeliers, hand guns and cockroaches are a few tools I use for developing composition.

Here is where art steps off of the canvas and into the bedroom of some complete stranger, where the viewer can become the art. I attempt to promote a space where site specificity, found objects, craft, concept and form create a dialogue for characters to develop and memories resurface.

Reflecting upon decorative and architectural design's effect on religious, ethnic and economic class structures, my work thrives on providing new ways to make ideas and words accessible through dream-like images/objects, spaces, and sounds.

I bring our homes, our fears, our desires and even our politics into a gallery or public space in order to utilize and challenge the weight of our assumptions.
